Raquel’s Dream House: Raquel Cayre, a 26-year-old art collector from the popular Instagram, @ettoresottsass, has given us a look into her dream house, with 2 whole floors dedicated to her curated vision at 79 Greene Street. The townhouse, located right across the street from St. Laurent, is currently filled with colorful creations for the public to see (for free!) for the entire month of May. Have you ever wanted to see your favorite design icons bring their Instagrams to life? Well Raquel did just that, exploring 80s and 90s Italian design while also paying tribute to Memphis Milanoand founder Ettore Sottsass. The show also features many emerging artists and everything inside the house is for sale! It’s open until 7pm on weekdays, which gives you the perfect excuse to leave work a little early and pop in before your office happy hour. Remember to take a photo of the rainbow painted staircase on your way out to add some artspirationto your own personal Instagram feeds!
Lure Fish Bar:Lure Fish Bar, a 4-minute walkfrom Raquel’s Dream House, is the perfect next stop to wind down from the week. Every Monday through Friday, Lure Fish Bar has happy hour deals on cocktails, wine, beer, sushi, snacks, and their raw bar until 8pm. Even the inside décor is on theme; we felt like we were in a dining hall of a luxury liner cruise ship from the moment we walked inside! Imagine dark wood floors, round windows, and lower ceilings all adding to the ambience. Order some $1 oysters for the group alongside their signature Pisco Punch (a personal favorite of Pisco, lime juice, orange juice, raspberry preserves, and topped with ginger ale). Don’t forget to ask for the dessert menu (which isn’t included on the happy hour special) but has items you should try such as the deep-dish cookie and cookies n cream sundae! Trust us on this; dessert is always worth it!
Boundless Plains Espresso:Boundless Plains Espresso, a new Australian coffee shop to hit the Financial District, quickly won over our hearts! The inside of this cozy new spot is very minimalistic, clean, and fresh with all white surfaces and light wood floors. On weekdays you can find a ton of people doing work and snacking on their avocado toast, but on the weekends it’s all about their brunch! Run almost like a “mom and pop” shop, Jo, the owner, is always around and happy to chat with customers! She made sure we got all her favorites on the menu and told us about certain Australian delicacies (like the goat feta on the menu!) that only she imports to the states! The tomato toast with tomato chutney, ricotta, pesto, spices, and a poached egg was so tasty and different. It made for the perfect breakfast, lunch, or brunch combination and was totally unique to them. Add a cold brew or pressed juice on the side to complete this healthy, but super filling meal. This gave us the quintessential “post workout vibes” when you want a great place to head to after your Saturday morning spin class!
Sprinkles Land: You’re in luck, because just an 11-minute walk away from brunch is your very own sprinkles wonderland, right here in NYC! Get your camera ready because these dessert creations are literally made for your IG feed. Described as a photo-worthy destination (you’ll quickly see the photo collages on the wall when you walk in), we made sure to try a bunch of different flavors so we could steer you in the right direction for a pretty picture and a delicious dessert, too! First up, their signature soft serve creation (and our personal favorite) the Tiramisu Lover, which is made with real mascarpone cheese and served in one of their to-go wine glasses! Can’t forget that most of the menu items (including this one!) also come with soft serve filled syringes so that you can keep adding more flavor as you enjoy! If you’re really looking to give your dentist a heart attack, try their sprinkle-covered cone with cotton candy, marshmallows, rainbow lollipops, hot fudge, gumballs, and more, all on top of any ice cream flavor! After making all our childhood dreams come true, we couldn’t NOT have a bite, but we challenge anyone to try and finish this. Pro Tip: Take a majority of your pictures inside! *True Story* If you decide to take your cone outside for some natural light shots (the best!), prepare to be attacked by tourists! There were so many people who wanted to hold our ice cream and take a photo of this beauty that we could barely escape!
Atwood Sports Bar & Lounge:Atwood Sports Bar & Lounge will have a permanent spot on our list after our successful Pop-Up Shop last weekend! Quick shout out to everyone who came and supported our very first event! Thanks to you, it was a huge success! Located centrally in Midtown East, Atwood is the ultimate place to have a great night out. Whether you want drinks, food, or tables games, they have it all waiting for you! Sip on a cocktail as they serve up a variety of house-made dishes including their infamous mac and cheese mixed with mushrooms and sweet potatoes, which comes out on a hot plate topped with breadcrumbs! Did we mention the extensive beer and wine list? Head in for drinks, root on your favorite team, and play a round of Connect Four or Cards Against Humanity to complete your perfect Saturday night. This space is great for any occasion and is available for private customizable events (as you know!). Just shoot the team a quick email, and they will make your next happy hour, work event, or engagement or birthday party a huge hit!
Spring Street Natural:Talk about being a pioneer; Spring Street Natural was founded way back when terms such as “farm-to-table” or ”organic” were not part of our everyday conversations! Now that the trendiest of places include vegan and vegetarian options, we’re always happy when we discover a place that can accommodate something for everyone! Insert Spring Street Natural. We loved that it’s located in Soho, but on a quieter side street to escape the crowds of Broadway. They also have an expansive outdoor seating area (with limited wait times!) and a menu that has everything from vegan, gluten free spinach artichoke nachos to a chocolate Belgian waffle! After getting a ton of questions on our Instagram when we posted their salad a couple of weekends ago, we wanted to make sure to share what we got. We ordered the chopped green salad with kale, romaine, baby spinach, mesclun, radicchio, roasted corn, butternut squash, feta, red peppers, chopped tomatoes, and herb croutons, with herb balsamic vinaigrette; it was amazing! Even if you sit outside, make sure to check out their royal blue decor inside with tea lights and greenery that hang from the ceiling across the entire restaurant. Spring Natural has always been and will continue to be family owned and operated, so count on great, accommodating service as well as a delicious brunch!
Matcha N’ More: The more food trends, the better! Take a 6-minute walk from Spring Street Natural to try the latest and greatest in the matcha ice cream world…24 karat edible GOLD covered ice cream! They actually have a pretty extensive menu of all things matcha, but we couldn’t help but try their matcha soft serve twist with chocolate charcoal, a matcha cone and edible gold foil on top! Not only did we feel special since this is the fanciest topping we have ever ordered, but the soft serve was one of the best matcha ones yet. The soft serve is so creamy and velvety, not too sweet at all, and the regular size gives you a ton of ice cream! There is some seating, but we recommend to take your cone on the go! Just don’t forget to hold it up against their pretty green and pink flowered wallpaper for a photo opp, or the neon sign that perfectly describes how we feel about the weekend … “love you very matcha”!
