Tacocina: Tacocina, open 7 days a week until 11p, is a great spot to enjoy while we still have some summer weather left here in NYC! Expect a casual setting with counter service and first come, first serve outdoor seating areas. However, for a taco stand, there are a ton of umbrellas and tables, so you don’t have to worry about grabbing a table! Located right on the Williamsburg waterfront, inside the newly opened Domino Park, Tacocina has everything you need to enjoy the scenery including tacos, snacks, Mexican beers, and cocktails to have there or on the go! The tacos are inexpensive ($4-$5 each) so make sure to try anything from the crispy cheese taco, to chicken adobo. Add in a Brooklyn Summer Ale or classic margarita to the mix and you’re set for the entire night. After you eat, make sure to explore the park which boosts new features like an elevated walkway, beach volleyball, bocce court, dog run, and so much more!
Gossip Coffee: Gossip Coffee, located in Astoria, Queens, is worth your trip from Manhattan, especially after their recent renovations! Complete with a refurbished bar, food, cocktail menu and outdoor area, there wasn’t anything else we could ask for! The ambiance radiates cool vibes, with (of course!) a neon side, tea lights, and a ton of greenery! The menu is perfect for brunch, with brand new menu items like tuna poke salad, overnight oats, lobster rolls and a broad selection of acai bowls. We tried the avocado toast on gluten free bread, topped with poppy seeds, feta, and a hard boiled egg, which was absolutely delicious. The real highlight was the addition of Duchess Cookies (the original creators of Chip NYC) to their baked goods selection! These ooey gooey cookies come in the most unique flavors, and are all stuffed with decadent fillings. Make sure to try the cookie monster, which has melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip cookie dough inside, or the unicorn special, which is filled to the top with strawberry cheesecake frosting. They are both so pretty that you’ll need a photo like this one. Don’t forget about their latest creation, a chocolate chip, peanut butter, banana, potato chip cookie (say that 10x fast!) which was truly one of the best things we have ever tasted.
ICONYC Brewing Company: Now that you’re in the area, it’s time to explore a classic neighborhood gem. Just a 15-minute walk away from Gossip Coffee is Iconyc Brewing Company. The space is dimly lit, relaxed, and never over-crowded which makes it great to go with just a few friends or an entire group! Make sure to ask for Bruno, as he’s usually the guy behind the bar; his beer knowledge is truly on another level. He let us try a bunch before deciding on our actual tastings which included 4 for $11. The vinyl records in the background added a nice touch while we discovered which beer was our favorite. The best part? If you have leftover cookies from your previous stop, you can bring in your own food here or order in more!
Pizza Beach: Is your group chat struggling to pick an activity for Saturday night? Well, problem solved. Pizza Beach (make sure it’s their Lower East Side Location!) is the place to be on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is fun with loud music, pitchers of cocktails flowing, and pizzas for everyone! It’s the perfect place for groups since they cater to even the healthiest eaters with offerings like the Tuscan Kale Salad, Grilled Shrimp Tacos, and a quinoa bowl; PLUS they offer their pizzas to be made vegan! All of their pizzas are great (vegan, or non-vegan), but we recommend the Quattro Formaggi, Spicy Soppressata, Mushroom & Stracciatella, or just plain Margarita. Pro Tip: If you had to choose 1 place to skip the vodka pizza and try something else, this place is it! It’s really nothing to write home about and we’ve had much better around the city! The cocktails will make you feel like you’re on vacation with options like the Baewatch Fuego, Orange Crush, or Spiked Lemonade. Large parties receive an option for a pre-fixe menu with unlimited pizzas and drink pitchers, which makes birthdays or events that much easier and is great for sharing! Want to keep the party going? Pizza Beach’s Lower East Side Location provides you with a plethora of options to go out with your crew afterwards! Some of our favorites are just blocks away: Beauty & Essex, Chloe 81, and Rumpus Room.
